Program Note:
​
violet sun takes its name from an optical illusion which causes the sun’s color to appear inverted after watching it for a long time. I first experienced this during a particularly powerful sunrise over Hartford in October 2020. Sunrises and other natural cycles serve as a reminder that, despite the chaos of life, time continues and certain things never change.
