Pilgrimage
SATB vocal quartet and synthesizer - 4 min.
Program Note:

Pilgrimage is a work born out of the idea of a journey. It begins in an unfamiliar place, created by unpredictable chord changes, and the recurring obliteration and reconstruction of a tonal center. It then brings the listener to a place that conjures comfort and familiarity through the use of more present melody, repeated motifs, and a generally diatonic structure. The piece is not representative of a specific journey, but it was envisioned as a metaphysical one, either spiritual or emotional. Through the absence of text, the piece creates various textures that are conducive to many images that the listener may conjure of their own life and experiences. The piece as a whole creates a space for reflection on one’s own journeys.
